Frame rubbing with particular abrasion and wear to the edge of the canavs at the left center and right edges. This includes scattered 1/2 - 1'' areas of loss along the right edges and bottom center. Surface dirt; surface is quite flat. Dense screening varnish inhibits detection of restoration under UV light, though older areas of inpainting are visible in the eyes, cheeks, forehead and hands of the man under raking light. Condition commensurate with age.

Scattered cracking and losses in the frame.
