Frame rubbing. Lined. Heavy craquelure throughout. Areas of inpainting filling in much of the craquelure in the boy's face. Also inpainting visible at the upper right, in parts of his ermine cape and at the lower left. Dense varnish layer inhibits further detection of restoration under UV light. Condition commensurate with age.
Reverse of stretcher is stamped "City Art Museum/St. Louis, Mo."
