Two volumes, full brown morocco of the period. 10 x 8 inches (25 x 20 cm); volume I: frontispiece portrait, ix (including title),  pp. subscriber list, large folding map, 405 pp.; volume II: frontispiece portrait, title leaf, 465 pp., one leaf of errata. Joints worn through but holding, bindings worn but restorable, internally overall fresh, the map in excellent condition.
An important account of the French and Indian Wars. This copy has an extra plate in the second volume, after Sartain (probably inserted) showing the death of Wolfe. The fine map of America is by Thomas Kitchin. Howes, U.S.iana K222: "Reliable, full and interesting."
