The Life of Alexander Hamilton

First editions. 20th century cloth. 9 5/8 x 5 3/4 inches (25 x 15 cm), the first volume slight larger than the second; portrait, viii, 422, uncut; vi, 563 pp. The title of volume I signed "Buchanan 1836", stamps to titles, newspaper affixed to one leaf, some spotting and small stains, toning to volume II.
The first volume here was all that Hamilton published in 1834 and, while Appleton did re-print the first volume in 1840, the second volume continues the 1834 text. The two are rarely found together thus.
