Lot 48Chinese Celadon Jade Figure of a Comparisoned Elephant
18th Century
Carved standing foursquare, the head facing forwards with the twisted wrinkled trunk sweeping between the pointed tusks and up to the left side, covered in a tassled blanket carved in low relief with two shou characters and two bats amidst cloud wisps, the stone a grayish celadon tone with russet and dark brown inclusions. Length 4 7/8 inches.
