A very complimentary letter from the former President thanking Mehle her an article written after a luncheon hosted by Nixon and his wife, Pat: "I marvel at your powers of observation and your fabulous memory. You made no notes and got every fact exactly right. I wish some of your colleagues in the media had your dedication to excellence & your sense of fairness."
