. Venice: Aldus, August 1514. First Aldine edition. Early binding of calf tooled in blind and stamped in gilt at center, rebacked with old leather at an early date and retaining pastedowns with early script. Woodcut printers device to first and last leaf, dated on colophon, [4, including blank], 230 leaves, without rear blank. This copy heavily annotated in a contemporary hand, ink collectors stamps with some bleed thru, old dampstain, an interesting copy but generally worn and sold as is, laid-in is a presentation to F.N. Doubleday and a photograph of the site of Aldus printing shop.
