New York: Isaac Collins, 1801. First edition. Later half-calf, gilt lettering label. 9 x 5 1/2 inches (23 x 14 cm); 97 pp., two folding engraved plates, two folding letterpress tables. Worn with a few leaves detached, the first plate split along along two folds, the second laid-in, early ownership signature to first two leaves, the binding and endpapers worn, worthy of repair.
Rare description of the Newgate Prison (in present day Greenwich Village) with two plates after Joseph Mangin. We trace one copy at auction in 20 years. Sabin 54026.
