Rectangular, with a hinged vesta compartment enclosing a strike and an opening for a tinder cord fitted with a gold chain, the hinged cover with a gold thumb-piece and enameled with the Russian inscription: Nina / 7 June 1901, commemorating the birthday of Princess Nina Georgievna, the inside cover inscribed in French and Russian: Borzhom 14 September 1901 / from Tipi 1922 / London. Width 4 1/8 inches (10.5 cm), approximately 8 1/4 ounces (259 grams).
