Lot 123[SALMON FISHING]
GUINGAND, SIR FRANCIS. Camp Chaleur
[Liverpool: Privately printed, August 1964]. Finely bound by MacDonald in red morocco stamped with a leaping salmon, possibly recased adding fine marbled endpapers. 12 x 8 inches; 15 pp, with dedication leaf signed in ink by 'Freddy' [Guingand] and one other, a printed leaf about the author is laid-in. Minor rubbing to spine tips, else fine.
De Guingand was a decorated British military officer and author of two books. This rare work offers an account of salmon fishing on the Grand Cascapedia while the de Guigands were guests of Jane and Charles Engelhard at Camp Chaleur. The limitation of this privately printed work was certainly very small.
