Lot 230Betty Woodman Glazed Earthenware Pillow Pitcher
Signed WOODMAN. Height 19 inches, width 25 inches.
Hadler Rodriguez Galleries, New York, New York, May 4, 1982.

Sold for $15,000
Estimate $4,000-6,000

Appears to be in generally good condition; no apparent hairline cracks, rim chips, nicks, etc.; there is a firing separation line to the earthenware body, apparently in the making, approximately three inches in length, located on the right facing side of the body below the downturned pinched corner; there are some pinhead size burst glaze bubbles on the surface in various areas, in the making, and not of any great consequence; there are scattered raised tiny bumps (granular to the touch) at the surface, below the glaze, in the making, and not of any great consequence; pooling of the glaze partly obscures the impressed WOODMAN stamp mark that appears on the reverse side beneath the strap handle; the strap handle is not truly symmetrical; one side is slightly higher than the opposite side so it now appears to lean slightly to one side; sits nice and straight upon a table surface; not blacklighted
