According to Stephen Ensko's note from 1948, this porringer was given to Seth Low (1782-1853) of Gloucester and Salem, MA. Low moved his family to Brooklyn in 1829 and established a prosperous shipping firm. The porringer descended to his grandson, Seth Low (1850-1916), who was Mayor of Brooklyn (1882-85) and New York (1901-03).
