Period white vellum gilt. 17 3/4 x 12 inches (45 x 30 cm); Titled in red and black with vignette, [10] ff., preliminary leaves including subscriber list, (plus frontispiece and portrait); 255 ff. Each of the twenty cantos contains an engraved plate, a cartouche containing the argument, and a tailpiece; five of the tailpieces are hors-texte, including the final one portraying Piazzetta and Albrizzi. Engraved opening initials, all by Martin Schedl after Piazzetta. Spine rubbed and restored, joint separating at head and foot (but structurally sound), internally a rather fresh copy. Some copies have a half-title, not present here .

The first edition with these illustrations, this is the highpoint of 18th century Venetian illustration. This is a mixed issue, with some of the plates captioned with the names and arms of the sponsors, but some without. Gamba p. 285; Morazzoni p. 256; Cohen-de Ricci 978.
