Jean Abercromby, daughter of General James Abercromby of Glassaugh, Banffshire, was the wife of Captain George Morison of Haddo. This portrait is closely related to Allan Ramsay's portrait of the same sitter now in the collection of the York Art Gallery.

Glue relined. Touches of restoration to the sitter's forehead. Areas of restoration to the nose and chin; shadows along the right side of the nose and around the chin reinforced. Some shadows in the clothing reinforced.
