Circa 1770-1780
The flaring square-section vessel is painted front and back with a formal floral arrangement and a small floral spray on each side below the interlocking rope handles. The beveled corners of the sides are molded in high relief with squirrels and grapes. The separate cover is pierced with five openings and decorated with floral sprays and red/gilt border matching the base. Height 8 1/4 inches (21 cm).
