Double-encircled Six-Character Mark of Jiajing and of the Period
The bowl is painted with a chrysanthemum spray and ruyi-head band in the cavetto. This is surrounded by a reverse-swagged band terminating in alternating lotuses and 'flaming' pearls. From the lotuses spring two vine-form appendages each enclosing one of the Eight Buddhist Symbols. Diameter 7 7/8 inches (20 cm).
